Georgie Abrams
v.
Anton Raadik
April 11, 1947
Another Chicago Stadium thrill-filled boxing program was presented by Schoenwald-Begun & Hurley combine, when they offered an assembled throng of 13, 208 paid fight entusiasts, who contributed to a gross gate amounting to $56,192.03, three ten-round contests. In the feature of which Georgie Abrams, making his initial Windy City appearance, beat European middle-weight contender Anton Raadik of Estonia. Abrams was too masterful. He slipped Raadik's rights, countered in precision-like fashion, and worked inside the European's leads, as well as, tieing up Anton frequently.
Bobbing Bob Foxworth, East St. Louis 178 pounder, stole the show with his spectacular fourth round stowaway of two-fisted Johnny Colan, red-headed New York Italian. In the second session, Bob leveled off at the Gothanite, and spilled Colan for a nine count-Johnny arose and fought back, dealing out more punishment than he received. The third round found Colan reversing the tide and sprawling Foxworth to the canvas with a smashing left hook. The sudden end of this terrific struggle came in round four, when Foxworth planted a solid right to Colan's jaw, and Johnny tired in vain to beat the count. Time. 2:48.
