Which brings the Soldier to Butte, Montana, the 11th day of June, 1919.

Soldier Bartfield, of no known permanent address, had agreed to enter into a boxing contest for twelve rounds at the Marquette Billiard Hall, in the city of Butte, State of Montana, on the day before Independence Day, 1919. His opponent H.J. Battling Ortega.

In return for his agreement Jacbo Bartfield was to receive $1,500 or privilege of thirty percent of gross together with round trip expenses for two from New York City.
Come July 3rd the Soldier was in Butte and history records he lost a 12 round decision to Battling Ortega.
Bartfield went on to fight Benny Leonard three no decision contests later in 1919.
