Primo Carnera & Luigi Soresi

Rome

October 1933

Dressed in the uniform of the faciist militia Carnera salutes the crowd as his co-manager Luigi Soresi waves in the foreground. Carnera was greeting the people with traditional Roman salute which in the coming years would

carry a different connotation with rise of the facist under Mussolini and the Nazi party in Germany. At the time of this photograph the salute attracted no adverse attention in the United States or elsewhere.

Carnera was in Rome to fight Paolino Uzcudun.
