Bennetto Payne

a.k.a.

Indian Benny Deathpaine

The Azetec Assassin

"Indian" BENNY DEATHPAINE, born in the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico (around 1913)as Bennetto Paine, a full blooded Aztec. Came to the U.S. with his family at age 8. Without amateur experience became a professional boxer at 15. Started as a welterwt. and eventually peaked at lt.heavy.

"In 129 fights," claims Benny, whom a sports scribe named Death-paine - because of his killer instinct. "I've been stopped several times because of facial injuries - but never knocked out. I have scored 71 Kayoes."

After his retirement became a licenced masseuse in New York state and became very prominant in the field.

According to the 1945 RING RECORD BOOK Benny boxed from 1928 to 1944 and compiled a W-76, L-32, D-8, KO-58 record. He boxed all over the country and scored wins over: Allen Matthews KO 2, W10; Danny Peal KO 8; Luther Rogan W10, W 8;Jimmy Webb KO 1. Also defeated by Matthews and Webb.
