Sam Blakelock was altogether more famous for the exploits of his students and his own. He numbered among them, John L. Sullivan, Dick Burge, Jim Hall, Ted Pritchard, Lachie Thompson and Ernie Stanton.
A brief biography of the fighter appears on the reverse. In many cases the images included in Edward's book are the only known of the particular fighter.
