I came here to give them a go and I did, didn't I?...
-Tommy Farr
In the grand traaditional of he noble Welsh warriors the Peerless Jem Driscoll, Jimmy Wilde, Freddie Welsh, Tom Thomas,Jack Petersen , and many more Tommy Farr certainly did give Champion Joe Louis " a go..."" in Louis' first defense of his title.
The fight went the distance with the Judges scoring the bout 8-5-2 and 9-6 with the odd man out Referee Arthur Donovan scoring the bout 13-1-1. This was bout many observers thought closer even than the Judge's scoring.
Tommy Farr had difficulty seeing throughout much of the match due to swelling and cuts below eyes. It was also revealed after the fight that Farr had broken a finger on his right hand.
Champion Louis was carried fron the ring on stretcher .
