At the time Tommy Farr signed this note for the now lost to history, Miss Montagy, he was a month a two weeks past his stunning defeat of former Heavyweight Champion, Max Baer.

By the Fall of 1937 Tommy Farr would be in America and giving the reigning Heavyweight Champion the closest call of his early career. Tommy Farr proved to be one tough Welshman as he extended the newly crowned Joe Louis the full fifteen rounds in what was Louis' first title defense. For only the third time in Louis' career a bout did not end in a knockout.
