In what they used to call "at catch weights" match, two reigning champions fought not for titles but pride. In all it last six rounds, the first three belonged to Lew Jenkins whose stinging punches battered Armstong's face bloody. Then came round four...Armstrong began a relentless body attack that saw Jenkins go to the canvas six times by end of the sixth round.

Between rounds, Jenkins manager called upon the referee, Arthur Donovan to stop the fight.
