The gallant Charles Le Doux, bantamweight champion of France, England and Europe drew the unenviable task of ushering out one of the ring greats, Jem Driscoll and no one could have carried it off with more class than Charle Ledoux.

An aging, dying Jem Driscoll fought Ledoux in October of 1919, For fifteen rounds it was as if the clock had been turned back, Driscoll was the ring phantom of old hitting without being hit skillful beyond all comparison. By the sixteen round time and age won out and Driscoll's legs could not longer carry the fight. Charles Ledoux landed a series of blows and Driscoll stumbled backward toward the ropes, Ledoux realizing the Great Jem was unable to defend himself paused and slowly the towel floated into the ring. Charles Ledoux walked slowly toward Driscoll is arms outstretched.

Afterward, a collection for Driscoll was gathered at the National Sporting Club, site of the contest, and one of the first to contribute was Charles Ledoux saying

...your marvelous Driscoll who lost because he was forty years of age...

In July of 1923, Charles Ledoux fought Abe Goldstein for the bantamweight championship of the world. Ledoux was knocked down in the eleventh and fourteenth rounds but refused to quit. Upon losing the fifteen round decision Charles Ledoux was given a standing ovation.

Charles Ledoux was a class act.
