Sam E. Andre was a top sports photographer and editor of Street & Smith's sports yearbook. He was on the boxing scene from the late 1920's. For ten years he covered every major sports event for the American and later the New York Journal. He was the first photographer ever to rate a by-line, with his daily eight-column picture-story for the New York Journal. Perhaps best known to boxing fans as the co-uuthor with Nat Fleischer of the landmark reference book A Pictorial History of Boxing. -(Liner Note Pictorial History of Boxing )
