Willie Pastrano

vs.

Brian London

25 February 1958

Coming out for the fifth, Pastrano, sensing that he was behind on points, started to use his snappy left to the head and followed by a right to the body. London went down holding the lower part of his body. There was a count of four and referee Williams acted with great precision for he walked over to London and said "Come on. Get up.You're not hurt."

...It was twelve seconds (according to the timekeeper) before the bout was allowed to continue, and then London went forward again forcing Pastrano against the ropes.

The crowd by now was in a frenzy, for seldom have they seen in an English ring a Britisher fighting and outslugging an American: especially one who is ranked fourth in the ratings. With the bout even in points, they met in the center of the ring for the last round. Both tipped gloves. The atmosphere was explosive. The spectators standing around the ring, and their seats cheering London on, for here was The Blackpool Blockbuster battling against one of the best heavyweights that has visited these British Isles, ...and he was having thebest of a slugfest that will be remembered by all who saw these two gladiators battle ten glorious rounds.

The gong went, and referee Bill Williams walked over to Pastrano and raised his arm.
