Whether in the ring or out Ray Robinson only knew how to live life one way, stage center. After he bizarre loss in the Maxim fight, Ray decided to retire to pursue his second love dancing.

Initially, he was enormously successful, commanding $15,000 a week when he opened in the French Casino at the Paramount Hotel.

Robinson had been dancing since he was kid. First as a street dancer outside theatres.

But always he danced best inside the ring.....
