In Tyson's national television debut he managed to fight through Ferguson's repeated clinching to knock Ferguson down for a count of eight in the fifth round, in the process breaking Ferguson's nose. Although Ferguson rose to go into round six his holding tactics were so blatant that the referee stopped the contest at 1:19 of round six.
